Grand View Hospice, a service which provides end-of-life care in the hospital, at skilled nursing facilities and inside patients’ homes, has been named as a recipient of a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Award by HEALTHCAREfirst for the second consecutive year.
This prestigious annual review recognizes hospice agencies that continuously provide positive patient and caregiver experiences and high-quality care. It acknowledges the highest performing agencies based on their performance on the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey satisfaction and quality measures.
“For people at the end of life and their families, our caring, compassionate hospice team means the world,” said Douglas Hughes, RN, BSN, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer at Grand View Health. “It fills me with pride to see this incredible team honored yet again for the amazing and selfless work they do every day.”
Grand View Hospice focuses on making patients as comfortable as possible while meeting their emotional, spiritual and social needs. The Grand View Hospice team includes nearly four dozen professionals, from registered nurses and aides who provide direct patient care to chaplains, social workers, bereavement counselors and a reflexologist, each of whom provide support and healing. The hospice staff is supported by about 100 volunteers who sit with patients, hold their hands, and provide services like music therapy and pet therapy.
To be considered for the Hospice CAHPS Honors Award, an agency must score above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on the Hospice CAHPS Willingness to Recommend question. If that criteria is met, performance is evaluated using a set of 23 additional quality indicator measures. These scores are then compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database. To compile the 2024 results, HEALTHCAREfirst used data from October 2022 – September 2023.
Patients with less than six months to live can access Grand View Hospice services. Medicare and most private insurers cover the cost of hospice care and equipment such as hospital beds, walkers, and inhalers. To learn more, call 215-453-4210.
