We’ve Planned for When Things Don’t Go as Planned

There are times when delivering a baby isn’t as simple as you’d hoped. When this happens, it’s important to know that Grand View Hospital has the Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to manage expected and unexpected complications.

CHOP Affiliation and NICU

Equipped with the latest technology, our six-bed Level II NICU is equipped to care for babies born as early as 32 weeks gestation or babies with unexpected medical complications, close to home.

Staffed by physicians from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the NICU team collaborates to ensure your baby receives the very best care.

The neonatology team includes:

  • Board-certified neonatologists from CHOP
  • International board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs)
  • Nurses
  • Pharmacists
  • Social workers

To help ease any feelings you have about being separated from your baby, the NICU is outfitted with the BabyView. This secure web-based camera system that allows you to check in on your baby when you can’t be there.

BabyView Keeps Parents, Babies Connected 24/7

When you learn that your newborn needs care inside a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you want to watch over them 24/7. The BabyView cameras inside Grand View Health’s NICU allow you to do just that.

BabyView is a secure, web-based camera system that lets parents and pre-approved family members see their baby through any internet-connected device at any time, day or night. The web cameras sit above the infant’s bassinet, giving family members a bird’s-eye view of their newborn even when they can’t physically be in the hospital.

“Being separated from your newborn for days or weeks at a time is very stressful for families, especially when parents are recovering from childbirth and managing the needs of children and family members at home,” says Kathy Peca, Director of Maternity at Grand View Health’s Birth and Family Center. “BabyView helps parents ease those stressful feelings.”

Grand View Health’s six-bed Level II NICU is specially designed to care for babies born as early as 32 weeks gestation or babies with unexpected medical complications.

The NICU team also includes international board-certified lactation consultants, nurses, pharmacists and social workers — all dedicated to supporting parents and helping newborns thrive.

The BabyView cameras inside the NICU are made possible through the generosity of the Lily’s Hope Foundation and American Heritage Credit Union.
