New Way to Find and Treat Lung Cancer
Grand View Health is the first hospital in Eastern Pennsylvania to introduce the Galaxy System™, a next-generation robotic platform for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
The FDA-cleared Galaxy System, developed by Noah Medical, is a powerful ally in the fight against lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both men and women. Galaxy empowers doctors to precisely locate and biopsy lung nodules, improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing the need for repeat biopsies.
“Galaxy allows for real-time navigation and guidance throughout all areas of the lung,” says board-certified interventional pulmonary disease specialist Nina Maouelainin, DO, with Lung Health Services in Lansdale. Dr. Nina will be using the Galaxy System exclusively at Grand View Health.
“With Galaxy, we can perform bronchoscopies (exams inside the lung) more efficiently and effectively, giving more accurate diagnosis to people with lung cancer or suspected lung cancer in Bucks and Montgomery counties.”
Additionally, Grand View Health offers lung cancer screenings for people between ages 50 and 80 who have smoked the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years. The test — a low-dose CT scan — identifies tiny nodules that X-rays can’t see.
The Grand View Health Cancer Center also offers surgical oncology, radiation oncology, mammography, rehabilitation, survivorship, and genetic testing for cancer patients locally. Grand View is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, a select group of community hospitals that work in collaboration with Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center to provide a full spectrum of today’s most advanced cancer care.
